Option 2 @ScottMorrisonMP - you want to “replace Liddell”? How about solar + batteries on schools.

Gas won’t drive down power prices, our kids will... a thread on why this is a brilliant idea, supported by the #MillionJobsPlan & me 👇🏻 https://twitter.com/ap4ca/status/1307890482446364672
Schools are generally “lateral” - this means a lot of roof space... great generation possibilities.

And they have space for batteries - big ones... which can be filled from solar.
Schools are distributed by population.

This means your electricity generation & storage is distributed... around the grid! Where we need it.
When schools are in term time, they are used during the day... and not at night.

This maximises cost savings... for our education system.
When schools are on holidays? No aircon. Little lighting. So maximised load generation & arbitrage profits.

How about peak summer time? Longest holiday!
So we can...
- use our school system as a fantastic virtual power plant.
- “Replace Liddell” (250MW? easy)
- save $ for our education system
- use no gas or fossil fuels
- help kids kids about science, renewables & environment from their own school rooftops
