We @RoyalStatSoc are excited to be launching an expert Working Group on Diagnostic Tests, reported here in today's FT https://www.ft.com/content/2f6c4175-19e6-403e-ac7a-632d5df8fb5f?shareType=nongift.

Why does this matter? (1)

A good testing regime is essential if we are to control Covid-19 - especially if we want to do so without destroying the economy.

But a testing system is critically dependent on our understanding of the statistical accuracy of the underlying tests. (2)

Here are some of the issues we'll be looking at. (3)

The Working Group will be chaired by @Deborah_Ashby & @deeksj. We're v grateful that some of the UK's most distinguished statistical & testing experts have volunteered to serve on it. The excellent @ovarwin is keeping the show on the road.
