it you care about animals and child labor - PLEASE open up this thread and spread the news. there’s a place in the north coast (in egypt) called “the lion village” or “قرية الأسد" thats problematic and unethical to both the animals and workers

the zoo has been criticized for years but still hasnt shut down. now that people dont go to the zoo anymore, the animals are barely taken care of as it’s CHILDREN and MINORS that are doing the work. they look after all kinds of animals, from lions, tigers, hyena, horses...etc

the cages for the animals are so small, theres rats running around the place, the kids who are in charge of the animals are mistreating them. i literally saw a kid pull the husky over the ledge by pulling his leash up - which literally strangled the dog for a little bit.

the dogs are kept in such small cages and don’t move much. they look sick and depressed. they have stuff stuck on their faces and some dogs even has eye infections and wounds which are clearly going continue to be untreated.

they market these dogs as “rare dogs” but yet for some reason the dogs are put in such horrible condition. their cages are cleaned and they’re left to deal with their own fasces. no food bowls were present and there were tiny water bowls. that were kind of dirty.

this brings me to the monkeys . the monkeys kept spinning in circles and it clearly seems like they were distressed. they had trash in their cages and there wasnt any water or food next to them. this was so disheartening to see.

look at the horses, they’re so malnourished. they were all injured and the injuries werent tended to. the whole two hours i was there, the horses were eating. i’m not sure why they’re malnourished but it genuinely looks like its diet isnt enough or they were starved.

not only that but every time a “caretaker” would approach the horses, they got scared and would keep a distance from them or attempt to “run away” from them. it was confusing and sad.

now to think that a zoo is namd after lions / big cats, they’d be treated well, right? unfortunately that’s not true. the lions + tiger werent active whatsoever and no food + water bowls were seen. nada.

the sheep and a few dogs were matted as hell. they clearly werent their natural color either bc their enclosures are dirty as fuck. the stupid metal keeping them in is rusting too.

the hyenas are literally put into these tinyass enclosures clearly NOT meant for them. they were literally fighting over food when it was given to them. again, no water bowl in sight.

guys i can literally go on; its SO awful but you get the gist of it. i want this place to close down, if anyone has any idea how i can reach the government and inform this about this please lmk !! or send them this thread.
