Well ignoring my lame pun... Lets dive into it more.

Now our body stores food in two forms mainly. First glycogen secondly fats.
Glycogen is made up from glucose and it is like a temporary storage... Mmm compare it with our wallets. We access it many times a day. Whereas fats are-

When we start fasting all the our body uses up the glucose without any hesitation

When all the glucose is used up body shifts to glycogen storage. And start making glucose from that.

So it starts some self defense. Body lowers the hunger hormone ghrilin (spelling nhi yaad) this ensures that u stay less hungry.
Fasting for 16hrs it self is good as body starts burning fat to make ketone bodies (ruk zara sbr karo bataunga) .

But what we achieve with long fasts is on another level.
See there is a process called ketosis in which the body breaks the fat to make ketones a substitute to glucose
Fats generate more energy than glucose although the process is very slow.

When our body reaches the state called ketosis. It means that our body has switched completely yo fats reserves to make energy. Hence only pure fat is burning without exercising.
There is a catch though. To reach ketosis it takes about 3 to 4 days.
