Unpopular Opinion: I find it very amusing when Nigeria Twitter, diaspora branch tries to troll Nigeria twitter, head office about how their rulers have made them unhappy, and how they are safer and happier since they left Nigeria... A SHORT THREAD.
Are members of Diaspora twitter safer? Yes (some people will say it's arguable but that's not the point) . Does the system they live in work? Undoubtedly. But are they on the average really any happier because of it? Not on the evidence we see daily.
Every day diaspora twitter is always online shading Buhari. In fact they do it with more vitriol than those of us who are here (it is a frequent talking point that those of us at home are not angry with our leaders enough). The question is are you really happy if you can't...
Enjoy the working system you have without constantly comparing it with what you have at home? They lowkey belive they are better than Nigerians at home because they live in a working system, but yet we hear nothing but COMPLAINTS from them about how they wouldn't leave home
If the Nigerian system worked. So let us state the truth. Y'all are still the same unhappy people in the working systems y'all are in, you just have light and good roads that y'all resent because they are not where you want them to be.
In the end, if you are leaving Nigeria to escape struggle and oppression, fantastic. But if you think you are leaving to find happiness, you might be disappointed. For me, the only diaspora Nigerian whom I can believe is happy in the diaspora is the one who burns their passport
And blocks Nigeria totally from their life. Otherwise it's just posturing.
This thread has become longer than I intended. So I'll just end with this. A working system doesn't make one any happier: case study, African Diaspora twitter. Either that or it just makes them all fake patriots.
