Eh sure let's do one of my history threads The Age of Apocalypse is one of those stories that is honestly easy to call the first really huge one after the Claremont era. Claremonts run was a huge shadow over the X-books and everyone had initial momentum but X-men was losing steam which is shocking but it happens. So when this crossover happened it was big deal, coming out of several bad future plots this storyline would prove INFLUENTIAL.

The story X-men character legion goes back in time and changes the marvel universe by accidentally killing his dad Professor X he was going to kill Magneto but thing happen. Anyway this creates the new timeline without the X-men Apocalypse takes over and were off to the races.

This story was used to explore alternates version of the X-men Magneto was inspired by Charles death to carry on his dread so we have a Magneto who created the X-men and they are well...Astonishing.

But why should a modern reader get into it. Well it's the start of Several major X-men characters who are still used today. I'm going to cover my favorite bits here. and also talk about returns.

Anyway Let's Explore my favorite alternate FIRST X-man! The idea with him was to play up a neat idea, what if Cable didn't get the tecno-organic virus. Created by Mr.Sinister in this New time he's Cable psychic potential unleashed. He's become one of the major players.

Some character are also DARKER like Colosus who shockingly ends up being one of the darker characters of the story sending his group of students to die.

It's also used to explore weird ships..because this is x-men who is bonning who WILL ALWAYS be important. In this case we get very unique ships and some fan ships, For one Jean Grey and Wolverine(who is known as Weapon X) and most famous Rogue and Magneto.

Sunfire himself become probably his most popular incarnation a former horseman of apocalypse in this version he became one of the highlights for HIS AWESOME fight with Apocalypse

We get a Sabertooth who takes the place of Wolverine becoming a mentor to a character who I will focus on in a bit. Like I said most of these new versions actually have fans and they come back every now and then.

Cyclops becomes an anti hero while his brother Alex become and Udder bastard but one Ally managed to stick from this group.

Hank McCoy the Dark Beast, this version of Beast would actually become a central figure of the X-men rogue's gallery going forward, imagine Hank McCoy buying into Mr.Sinister ideals and you have one of the most shockingly persistent X-foes.

But let's go over the important thing it brought us, these two right here Blink and Morph, who would go on to be in Exiles, one of the best books from Marvel for a while and I will go over them because they present an interesting history.

Blink was a side character who was killed off and never got a chance to shine but Age of Apocalyse decided to use her and she became the fan favorite soon after it was done she was given Exiles her own book that...okay it's Slider meet the X-men so about 10 time better.

Morph is a weird one and I wanted to focus on him, see he is a reworking of slight Original character from the Cartoon X-men Morph who is an adaption of the Changling a character created to explain why Proffesor X was not dead. He died early on.
