We Odia peoples often use this word 'Mandhata' in our conversation for the person showing his greatness (yes sarcastically), and this term also is a 'Pada' to some Khandayatas.

#Mandhata was the son of Yuvanashwa. He was forefather of #SriRam and one of the most powerful ruler of #Ikshvaku Dynasty.

It is mentioned that Mandhata was born from Yuvanashwa by the blessings of Sage Chyavan, son of Sage Bhrugu during an Yajna. In that Yajna all the.. 2/n

..deities including Indra were present.
When he was born, #Indra said, "मम् इयं धाता" that is, "I am his caretaker." So he was called as 'Mandhata'. He learnt all the knowledge of Texts and #Scriptures in very early age. He was expert of Dhanurbidya, all type of Weaponry.. 3/n

..and had acquired all the Ashtra either from his Guru or by Tapasya. Mandhata had performed many important Yajna and had won whole earth in battles. He had even claimed his position as Indra and shared the Indra position with Vaasav, the son of #Aditi. 4/n

#Rabana had defeated and killed Anaraynya, one of forefathers of Mandhata. When Rabana was on his expedition, he challenged Mandhata in the battle.
In that battle, Mandhata singlehandedly defeated all the army of Rabana. When Rabana couldn't defeat him with normal weapons, .. 5/n

..he started using Divine Ashtras. Each Ashtra of Rabana was countered successfully by Mandhata. In the end, Rabana used Brahmashtra. To counter Brahmashtra, Mandhata Summoned Pashupatashtra. Sage Pulatsya and Sage Gaalav had to mediate between them. Both of them stopped.. 6/n

..their Ashtra and brought it back. Even Rabana couldn't defeat Mandhata, such was his might.
