When you don’t accept someone for something they cannot change (race, skin colour, sexuality, religion) you are essentially dehumanising them by acting like the bare minimum of respecting them deserves some sort of recognition. Support and respect are not mutually exclusive
For example “I don’t support Islam but I respect Muslims” is contradictory in itself. If you respect Muslims that means u acknowledge their freedom to practice their religion and u reject islamophobia.
When u agree with the general public to make those statements this is harmful when marginalised groups are still face systematic discrimination in legislation, education, healthcare and in the workforce. This is not a matter of opinion anymore. U can’t agree to disagree on this
These are not just a difference in “opinions” it is a matter of difference in morals. You are allowed to have different opinions when it doesn’t hurt anyone
