East Boston is ground zero for the displacement and affordability crisis. Today, @bostonplans will vote on a Suffolk Downs PDA to create 10k units of new housing, almost none of it affordable to existing Eastie residents struggling to remain.

Shame on @marty_walsh #BosPoli
This project is unacceptable for a city says it values equity. Why do we continue to build for a small portion of our cities people? We do we prioritize 15k high-income earners over the people who already live here? Shame on @marty_walsh and @bostonplans #BosPoli #OURsuffolkdowns
If we value equity, we need to listen to the voices of immigrant and working families who have lived in East Boston for centuries. We know this project will cause displacement. We're proud to stand on the right side of history. What about you @Marty_Walsh & @bostonplans? #BosPoli
We need to prioritize people who live in East Boston. Someone working a full-time minimum wage job cannot afford an income-restricted unit at 70% AMI. If a full-time worker cannot afford an 'affordable' unit, then who are we building it for? #BosPoli #OURsuffolkdowns
