As a leftist surrounded almost exclusively by liberals (like most leftists, since there are fewer of us), I am here to tell you that both the leftists and the liberals are working their freaking asses off for this election (and beyond), all up and down the ballot.

Both DSA and the normies are organizing like crazy around Nithya and Yes on 15 and, yes, you do love to see it. People are volunteering their time both hyperlocally and at the state level (Fatima, Godfrey) and for Congress, the Senate and the Presidency.

And in between they’re still tuning in to City Council meetings, library commission meetings, police commission meetings, sheriff oversight commission meetings and making meals and donating gallons and gallons of water for unhoused people.

And they are doing all of that while working demanding jobs, raising kids, caregiving for elderly parents, in the midst of a pandemic that has sapped everyone’s energy and focus.

All that to say, my contempt for most of our elected reps just keeps growing as they continuously shriek at us to VOTE when the truth is most of us are doing a hell of a lot and those of us who aren’t can’t because we’re trying to survive a capitalist hellscape.

tldr; Twitter is real life, you are all kicking ass, and you deserve the better world we’re working so hard for. xo
