Thread about the reactionary movie: John Carpenter’s “They Live”
The movie is about a blue collar worker, played by Roddy Piper, who is forced to relocate to find work. The economy is bad. We’ll find out why a bit later.
While at a homeless camp, Piper stumbles upon a rebel group using a church as a front for their operation. The group tries to hijack television broadcasts to let the public know about a plot that is working against them.
The bad guys get wind of rebels and send the police to round up everyone. Piper walks into the church after the attack and discovers a set of sunglasses that permit him to see reality.
Piper sees that behind all the advertisements and media, there are subliminal messages like ‘stay asleep’ and ‘consume’
More importantly, with the glasses, Piper can see that not everyone is not human. Some are aliens who are merely disguised as humans.
The aliens quickly figure out that Piper can see them. They report him and send the police to capture him. Piper overcomes the police and manages to shoot some of the aliens. But he is one man against an entire system. Violence is not the solution.
The movie is a thinly veiled metaphor for the globalists who use the media and academia to control us. Just like Piper, violence isn’t the solution. Rather, we need to broadcast the truth.
Piper manages to get into the aliens’ headquarters. He finds out that there are a large number of humans collaborating with the globalists, er, aliens in exchange for high paying jobs. Sound familiar?
Piper, at the cost of his life, shoots the alien transmitter thus unmasking all the aliens at once. All the humans see the truth instantly. Our task is not that easy. Our enemies are people just like us and there is no central transmitter that we can destroy.
Just as the aliens in the movie are skimming wealth from the economy causing unemployment, the globalists also favor exporting jobs—it enriches them but hurts everyone else.
“They Live” is not a great movie but is worth watching for parallels to our own situation. It may be a good way to introduce science fiction fans to the concept. /End
