THREAD: In 2014, several Republican Senators faced close primaries from the right. Let's go over them and see what's happened to the four closest ones since 2014!
We kick things off in Kansas! Longtime Republican incumbent Pat Roberts faced doctor Milton Wolf in the primary. Wolf, despite winning heavily populated Johnson County, lost by a little over 7%.

After beating Greg Orman in the general, Roberts declined to run again in 2020.
It wasn't really that close in Kentucky, but then-Minority Leader Mitch McConnell still lost a few counties to his biggest challenger, Matt Bevin, who would later go on to be elected Governor!

Mitch is still around and kicking as the now-Majority Leader in the Senate.
Tennessee was a very late-developing primary between Senator Lamar Alexander and State Representative Joe Carr. Lamar held a lead in the polls for most of the race, but Carr nearly won out in the end thanks to wins around Nashville.

Lamar declined to run for re-election in 2020.
And finally, there's Mississippi. After barely losing the initial primary, but managing to hold McDaniel to under 50% to force a runoff, incumbent Thad Cochran barely defeated McDaniel by 2 points.

Cochran would later resign in 2018 and now Cindy Hyde-Smith holds his seat.
So yeah a lot of the incumbents here who faced strong challenges from the right (aside from Mitch, who's more debatable in his inclusion here) are either gone now or gone after 2020. Goes to show what direction the GOP was going in I guess! /END THREAD
