Thread (1/5): On behalf of leadership, the diversity officer and the diversity council regarding the first statement that was released about last week's removal of State Press opinion columnist Alexia Isais:
(2/5): We have deleted the first statement from social media and the SP website. We have also updated the 2nd statement to acknowledge this removal since it originally linked to and referenced the first statement.
(3/5): The 2nd statement was deleted entirely (instead of edited) in an effort to minimize harm for Isais as well as the other individuals and communities who were pained by the statement.
(4/5): We take full accountability for the vagueness of the language, which ultimately created an inaccurate representation of parts of the situation. We also apologize for the pain that the statement caused for many individuals and organizations.
(5/5): This situation is still ongoing. This thread is only addressing the first statement. We will continue to have conversations inside and outside of our organization to move forward in the most thoughtful, impactful way. Once decisions are made, they will be shared publicly.
