Set up a Video Camera. "Press Record."

It will do wonders for your recruiting. [A THREAD 1/15]
Technology continues to evolve at a lightning-fast rate and it’s changing how recruits gather information in the recruiting process.

Most coaches aren’t moving at the same speed. (2/15)
With everything in the pandemic limiting your ability to have personal interaction, introduce prospects to future teammates, and have prospects FEEL connected to your program - YOU need to change too! (3/15)
There is a tremendous opportunity in using 30-second videos to tell your recruiting story. You can make them on your phone, send them easily by text or email, and keep them organized on your desktop, ready when you need them. (4/15)
A lot of $ in college athletics has gone into video, graphics, and polished social media pieces that showcase the brand.

But FOR RECRUITING there’s some real value in the authentic, raw stuff that feels real and spontaneous. (5/15)
The easy to capture footage can be used:

You simply need to identify what your story needs, provide some guidance, and set up a camera. Press record.

[You now have content for both big audiences and individual targets. Use it over and over again.] (7/15)
You can do real and authentic like in the NFL (Sound On)…

Or you can do interview style with a few prompts. Try:

At first I thought.., but then ….
I love that here at X we get to …
I looked at other schools, but none of them had… (9/15)
Tag your athletes& #39; social media handles - there’s a good chance your recruits will reach out directly and ask them questions they’d normally ask over lunch or hanging out in a dorm room.

You just did the introduction! https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="👍" title="Thumbs up" aria-label="Emoji: Thumbs up"> (10/15)
Today, recruits can get information everywhere by typing in a few quick search words. What they don’t get - and continue to need - is an inside look into what it’s like to actually BE on your team. (11/15)
Think about WHY they’d want to be there and you have content!

Personality over packets.

Personal connection over information.

Accessibility/understanding over volume of statistics.

This generation expects to receive info in a variety of ways. So, use short videos to add to your story.

Reactions coming off the field from practice.
How hard you work in the weight room.
What happens in the dorm after practice.
Or even why mask wearing is FUN.

Whatever best shows your team being themselves. (14/15)
Recruiting is simple.

Get them interested.
Get them informed.
Get them emotionally connected.
Get them to decide.

Hope this helps get the best ones to choose you. (15/15)
