As I said on FB: I wonder if JK Rowling realizes that a love of HARRY POTTER isn't a thing that just, like, is inherent in children. WE have made it cultural shorthand, which means we can UNMAKE it. And that's something she's going to have to reckon with in the next few years.
the last Harry Potter book came out in 2007. If you are 12, you weren't even born when it came out. This whole EVERY GENERATION LOVES IT ....... lol that's not how generations work, Joanne
HARRY POTTER lived on because it lived in the hearts of its adult fans (like...me) I cried, I literally cried tears, when I was at Wizarding World and we came around the corner and there was Hogwarts in the distance. I will never regret this. I will never forget how this felt.
but it is not the same in my heart anymore. My heart, in fact, is broken. And I am FAR from alone. And R/owling will just get more radical and push more people away.

Which means, bit by bit, Harry will begin to fade. That's just how it works when things break in people's hearts.
