I cant remember where I heard this but about 6 months ago I listened to a podcast on Adam and Eve and the creation story. In it the speaker mentioned that the first human was both male and female and when God created Eve he simply separated the two from the one.
I think about this concept often and how it relates to the whole leadership hierarchy evangelicals call the "created order" where men take precedence of women.
Why must there be one leader? As in why on earth can't humanity learn to work as a team? It seems like everytime we place people on pedestals people think it absolves them from cooperation. "My guy is better than yours" kinda thing. The "being right" syndrome.
I think any of us who have done any kind of group activity have experienced the positives and negatives of cooperation. The solidarity that comes from everyone having an equal voice instead of just one person controlling the group.
There is a sweet satisfaction when groups or married couples can come to mutual agreement on things. Sure. It might take longer but so what?
Also, the idea that the husband is responsible for the wife's salvation walk is disgusting. They do not mediate in anyway between God and woman and to take such an "umbrella" kind of view is pure selfish pride.
Constantly trying to apply 2000 year old cultural ideas to the time we live in now does nothing but stifle love and freedom. It limits the Divines power in each humans life.
God is so beyond culture but does work in culture. Just cause the culture was one way that long ago and we see the things God did in that culture doesnt mean that's how he meant all humans to live.
The work he does/allows in culture has everything to do with our human lack of capacity to fully embrace love. A heart bent towards understanding without judgement lets love flow freely.
We can taste the flavors of this in the dissenting prophets leaving the church left, right, and center. There's something terribly wrong with how we have done church and we have harmed and completely missed Loves call.
Listen to those #deconstructing. And capture the heart of what you hear. There's no fear in Love. That is entirely biblical.
