Today, I was in Likpata, Edu Local Government, to comfort our people whose houses and farmlands were badly affected in the recent flooding. In Lafiagi, I also witnessed the distribution of palliatives to those affected by the recent flood plaguing communities in the area.
We have discussed with Mr President and we‘re working with the lawmakers from Kwara to push for timely dredging and desilting of the River Niger and the dams as a lasting solution to the flood crisis. We hope to see some concrete steps taken in this direction as soon as possible.
We have set up a committee whose report would help us adequately mobilize resources to support the victims to add to the distribution of food palliatives which started on Tuesday. I urge everyone to be patient with us as we are doing everything possible to look out for them.
