The NCAA’s Board of Governors will meet Friday and discuss, in part, initial COVID-19 guidelines for basketball, sources told CBS Sports. Most prominently, this includes a recommendation of three-times-per-week COVID-19 testing on nonconsecutive days at minimum during the season.
The testing threshold would also apply to referees. It is not expected to be voted as a Division I-wide official rule necessarily; these are recs from the COVID-19 Advisory Panel and should be released Friday. The Board of Directors already met Tuesday and approved the same recs.
This is a big point of intrigue in college basketball because many schools are wondering if they’ll be able to afford thrice-a-week testing in Nov/Dec, and if not, if bigger schools will help foot the bill. It’s anticipated that every conf will eventually mandate these guidelines
