A thread on 10 habits you should stop and what to do instead if you have ACNE/PIMPLES. Whether mild or severe.

1. Stop trying a new acne treatment every week or so, because this can irritate your skin and cause more breakouts.

[Please RT this thread to inform someone]
a) instead what you should do is to give your present treatment time to work. It can take 6-8 weeks to be free from your acne completely if you are consistent because you wouldn't get rid in a week something that took months to form.
2. Stop applying your treatment on the pimples you see. Many are under your skin that aren't out yet. If you treat the one you see, the other will come out tomorrow.

a) instead apply your treatment on your entire acne prone skin.
3. Stop using makeup, Skincare and haircare products that can clog pores.
If you use them on your hair avoid your hair touching your face or the affected area.

a) instead, Use only makeup,
skin, and hair-care products that are labeled “non comedogenic or “won’t clog pores.”
4. Stop sharing makeup, makeup brushes, etc .Even if you use only non-comedogenic products, sharing makeup can lead to blemishes. Acne isn’t contagious, but when you share makeup, makeup brushes, the acne-causing bacteria, oil, and dead skin cells on other people's
skin can wind up in your makeup. When you use that makeup, you can transfer their bacteria, oil, and dead skin cells to your skin. These can clog your pores, leading to breakouts.

a) instead be the only one using your makeups and don't forget to wash the brushes regularly.
5. Stop sleeping with your makeup on.

6. Stop washing your face several times a day. You can further irritate your skin.

a) instead, Wash your face twice a day — when you wake up and before you go to bed. You’ll also want to wash your face when you finish an activity that makes
You sweat.

7. Don't dry out your skin. Skin with acne is oily, so it can be tempting to apply astringent and acne treatments until your face feels dry. Don’t. Dry skin is irritated skin. Anytime you irritate your skin, you risk getting more acne.
a) instead, Use acne treatments as directed. If your skin feels dry, apply a moisturizer made for acne-prone skin. You’ll want to apply the moisturizer twice a day, after washing your face.
You also want to avoid using astringents, rubbing alcohol, and anything else that can dry
Out your skin.

8. Don't scrub your skin. Millions of Nigerians do this using bathing sponge. It's not good. You will irritate your skin.

a) instead. Be gentle when washing your face and other skin with acne. You want to use a mild, non-comedogenic cleanser. Apply the cleanser
lightly with your fingertips, using a circular motion. Gently rinse it off with warm water, using only your fingers. Then pat your skin dry with a clean towel.

9. Stop using handkerchiefs to rub your skin when you feel sweaty. Instead, Pat gently. No be fight
10. Don't pop these pimples whether small or big. You are looking for trouble. you’re likely to push some of what’s inside (e.g., pus, dead skin cells, or bacteria) deeper into your skin. When this happens, you increase inflammation. This can lead to more-noticeable
acne and sometimes scarring and pain.

a) instead, resist the temptation to pop or squeeze acne. You want to treat your acne with acne medication. If you have deep or painful acne, seeing a dermatologist is necessary to help clear your acne.
For people with acnes your basic routine should be an acne foamy/creamy cleanser. Something like this, or a water based cleanser that contains salicylic acid. Something like this.
Then Moisturize with a light weight moisturizer. Something like this or that.

Heavy ones should not come close to your skin.

Don't skip sunscreen too. You should Moisturize AM and PM
We are treating pimples so we don't need much in your routine.

You can include Retinoids if you wish, Something like differin gel or you include a on-the-spot treatment, something like Neutrogena on-the-spot treatment.
If you are looking to clear dark acne scars on your face include vitamin c serum, Niacinamide serum and sunscreen into your routine.

Bottom line: Skincare is a habit. If you can't create a skincare habit, then there's nothing anybody can do to help you.
It takes an average of 21 days of consistency to form a habit. Start now and you will never regret it. If you do accordingly and your ACNES get coconut head, please look for a dermatologist to address your issues. Sometimes it's more than acne. It could be an underlying condition
