*puts on business hat*
okay two interesting things here regardless of what you think of Amazon
1) pricing model. it's sitting between Stadia and xcloud. Basic sub gives you access to a select games library, channel add-ons later will up the cost but add more games. https://twitter.com/GIBiz/status/1309197150857965568

that's more appealing than Stadia on its face and also opens the door for partnerships with other publishers (such as Ubisoft) to draw specific bases and actually mean something, as opposed to paying a lot for a bunch of games you don't care about
(still can't really catch Xbox's level of expansiveness, but no one really can since they're a first party)
second, as a lot of other folks on Twitter are pointing out, they're bypassing the App Store rules on cloud gaming by just using in-browser. that's hilarious, inevitable, and will be exciting to watch as 1) everyone else takes this tactic and 2) Apple finds a way to shut it down
anyway ultimately content is going to be the driver here as with everything else, so we'll see what Amazon can pull together to pull folks in. given their deeply unimpressive attempts at gaming in the past I am not holding my breath
one more thing I'll add, Amazon just sort of throwing a press release out there randomly today without any kind of real ramp up or getting it into people's hands before announcement is sort of emblematic of their general approach to marketing their games stuff
call me when all these big companies that want to get into gaming learn: if they wanna launch a new platform, they need some hot exclusives
