my heart goes out to every black creative on a deadline in 2020...no matter how many black boxes they posted they've expected you to deliver on time EVERY TIME.

And through tears, in hospital waiting rooms, in funky, cramped apartments we pressed send.

Fucking hell...
and like i know there's bigger things than a deadline but niggas still gotta eat and pay rent...so the deadline it is.
i'm on the cover a magazine soon and I don't think they know this but the photo they used is the photo they took mere MINUTES after my mother told me she, my step father, and my grandfather got diagnosed with Covid-19.

You can see a kind of sadness in the photo.
I didn't really know what to do but keep going...all i was thinking about was how many resources were being used and what the cover was for...

it felt rude to tellthese people who did safety precautions "i'm done"...
It feels rude to tell an exec who wants a zoom, "Can't today".
Also...everyone pulled through! It was a sad anxiety induced Covid obsessed 3 weeks but everyone made a full recovery.
Just wanted to tweet this for any other black folks who might be trying to respond to an email through tears of frustration, sadness, mourning, or w/e to say YOU DON'T HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF ANYTHING MORE THAN YOUR OWN PSYCHE.
Take refuge in group chats if you can...these past few months were uplifted by GCs Janicza, @MosesSumney , @diaz_devan , @harinef , @Sirsargent, @CaseyGerald, @Tyler_Mitchell_ , @IAmKelseyLu , @mischabreslin, and the OG @Plain_Janie.

Thank y’all for laughing and listening.
