and if people actually took the time to think "hey why is this band giving a speech at the UN, maybe there's a reason", then we wouldn't be having these conversations. too many people belittle korean groups under the guise of +
"they're manufactured!!" while not even taking one minute out of their day to look at them as human beings. they complain about the industry "manufacturing" them while they themselves treat them as a product, not as people. +
in the case of bts, the people who make these comments don't even want to know why they're up there at the UN. they don't care. if they did, they would google them, they would ask people for info, before even thinking of making passive aggressive/xenophobic/racist remarks. +
you don't have to like their music, nor do you have to listen to it. all it takes is a google search to find out what their impact is and how much they've inspired and uplifted people, especially poc, around the world, and how they've created a community that tries to help +
make the world a better place every day. a community that largely consists of people of colour. you don't have to like them in order to understand that. and when people call out these remarks and explain why they're harmful, you should listen. +
