Advise for mere mortals?

In general, work on anything that’s useful to society/has high value to people – it doesn’t necessarily have to change the world

If what you’re working on makes a big difference but only affects a small to moderate number of people, that’s fantastic

If your project makes a slight difference but affects a vast amount of people, that’s also fantastic

Fear: “I actually think I feel fear quite strongly. So it’s not as though I have the absence of fear… There are just times when something is important enough, and you believe in it enough to do it in spite of fear.”

“You don’t always improve but you can aspire to improve. You can aspire to be less wrong.”

“I look at Twitter as a way to learn things and stay in touch with what’s happening. It feels like dipping into the flow of consciousness of society.”

“We should treasure that and not give up our liberties too easily. I think we probably did that actually.”

“If this is a free country you should be allowed to do what you want so long as it does not endanger others”

Engineers are modern-day magicians:

“You guys are the magicians of the 21st century. Don’t let anything hold you back. Imagination is the limit. Go out there and create some magic."

For news, Elon recommends following individual reporters instead of publications

“Basically too many smart people go into finance and law…we should have I think fewer people doing law and fewer people doing finance and more people making stuff.”
