The #JobSupportScheme - What We Know So Far (A THREAD)
The Job Retention Scheme is due to end on 31st October. The Job Support Scheme will begin on the 1st November...
...The scheme will support employers offering shorter working hours rather than making staff redundant. This means it will only provide support for those in work. No support will be given for employers who cannot offer work...
...For your employees to be eligible for the scheme, they must work at least 1/3 of their normal hours. You will be responsible for paying those hours....
...The Government will make up pay to a total of 77%. The scheme can be used by SMEs. However, larger companies can only use it if their "turnover has fallen." At this stage, the Government hasn't defined what they consider "larger" or "SME" businesses...
...You CAN use the Job Support Scheme and claim the Job Retention Bonus.

You CAN'T make an employee on the Job Support Scheme redundant...
...The final point to note is this:

You don't need to have previously furloughed staff to be able to use the Job Support Scheme. This means, as long as you fulfill the relevant criteria, you can put any staff member on the Job Support Scheme.
