...as if these problems were not shared by the field; as if these problems were not relevant enough to be discussed in our main and most important forums.

Treating the lack of diversity as merely a problem of access or as a matter of structural inequalities means not recognizing what the field effectively loses by favoring scholarship from only a small part of the globe.
