An editor at the Economist made an off-hand comment about Korean Boy Band BTS, their fans harassed her so she apologised. I left the odd mildly sarcastic comment on the thread, and I’ve honestly never witnessed so much overt racism before.

And it takes a lot to surprise me.
I know that this is just a glimpse into the horrendous harassment people of colour must experience on this platform. But I’m troubled what these kinds of bullying communities must be doing to the teenagers within them. It can’t be healthy to be surrounded by so much hostility.
I can’t imagine seeing racism in completely innocuous statements makes a person very happy.
