“Beggars, salespersons, and ROHINGYANS are not allowed in this premise” When I say xenophobia is strong in our community, this is what I mean. Disallowing a marginalised community to enter a FOOD establishment feels a lot like nazi germany to me. im disgusted. do better Shah Alam
I heard some good stuff about this steak house, decided to try, the moment I saw this notice. I left. Just appalling, disheartening to see this happening, especially at a malay-muslim food establishment. pretty darn sure, this is not the teachings of our religion.
rohingyans are already victims of an ongoing genocide in Myanmar. and to have malaysians polarise them even further? legitimising hatred towards this community? classifying “them” and “us”?
for a country that glorifies Palestinians refugees in the name of “Islam”, we’re clearly putting refugees from different countries on a totem pole.
the takeaway isn’t to treat all refugees equally but badly, the takeaway is to call out establishments which are discriminatory and are blatantly racist. If you’re around Shah Alam area, don’t forget to bring your Rohingyan friend along, let’s see if they can turn down business
Due to the negative responses I’ve been getting from this tweet amongst others; calling me, damansara stupid b*tch for being detached to reality but more alarmingly, MANY have justified the hate towards Rohingyans. Let me set the record straight. 1. Saya duduk di Selayang (cont)
Selayang menempatkan ribuan org rohingya.
I have read extensive legal and humanitarian reports on the genocide when I was studying law. When I came back to Malaysia, I saw how Rohingyans live. I have been in the same room with rohingyans in multiple occasions in a teaching capacity. My family buys food from them (cont)
and for them. NEVER in my heart, I go “ee rohingya, suka ludah, they don’t deserve to live” This community has CROSSED OCEANS to survive. With no money or education, they only have each other HERE. Bottomline, if we fail to show empathy, we fail as humans. Be kind. Salam Jumaat.
