There should be no public forum in which any GOP candidate for office appears in which they are not asked "Do you support the president's refusal to guarantee a peaceful transfer of power?" and "Why did you not stand up for our troops when the president denigrated them?"

There should be no debate or press conference in which they are not asked "The president said mail ballots lead to voter fraud but there is no evidence of this. Do you support the president's view and if so, what evidence do you have?"

There should be no candidate who is not required by questioners to answer why the GOP should be supported if they backed the administration's lies and mismanagement of the COVID crisis. Pose the questions clearly.

"All evidence suggests Trump committed obstruction of justice & colluded with Russians. None say it is a hoax--not Mueller, not the Senate, not any independent investigation. He's betrayed the country. Why do you defend this? Why do you advance Russia's interests over our own?"

Ask about the nepotism. Ask about the science denial. Ask about the gutting of environmental regulations. Ask "the president has been credibly accused of rape and sex abuse, why do you support this? Do you consider rape a serious crime?" Ask about the racism.

Ask about the tax fraud cases. Ask about the substantial numbers of psychiatrists who consider the president to be unfit for office. Ask about the rampant corruption. Ask about Bill Barr undermining our system of justice, quashing investigations, attacking protestors.

Ask about the constant GOP moves to gut health care protections. Ask about why the tax cuts only benefited the rich. Ask about why during an economic crisis only the rich and powerful received substantial help.

Ask them all. Ask the hard questions. Ask the follow-up questions if they don't answer. Challenge the lies. Challenge the efforts to sidestep. Make them go on the record. The GOP can't be allowed to glide by as the president contemplates a coup...

supports our enemies, abuses women, fails the country, defends racists, as 200K die, promotes violence, as millions are jobless, as our int'l standing falls, as we are weakened and made less safe. Journalists have a responsibility to press these issues & demand clear answers.
