So here's the thread on my parents being stuck in Wales thanks to @therac_UK @RAC_Care

Parents (73 & 68), car broke down Wed AM. Phoned RAC 11am, promised response in 90 mins. Agreed to deliver them, plus car, home in Sussex. That's what insurance does, right? Wrong

They phoned @RAC_Care after 2.5 hours AND 3.5 hours to be told help on the way and driver will ring. Phoned AGAIN after 5 hours and told flatbed on way in 40 mins. Driver arrived 5pm and said RAC contract was to take the car to a depot in Rhyl for the night, not them. Unhelpful

Tried to get @RAC_Care to sort it out but driver instructed by their boss to leave!!!

RAC promised a manager would sort it out and phone them but didn’t. They phoned AGAIN at 18:20 and told they were trying to get through to their driver but couldn’t.

Phoned AGAIN at 18:40, told them we would stay overnight if they'd arrange pick up for 8am today. Promised another escalation to manager and call back.
At 21:15 still no call back.

Then discovered there were no rooms available anywhere so they HAD TO KNOCK ON SOMEONE'S DOOR

In a pandemic they had to knock on the door of a complete stranger (suggested by kindly pub landlord) to see if they could stay in their spare room for the night. Can you imagine @RAC_Care , can you? These are my parents you have abandoned and I am LIVID

They phoned @RAC_Care this morning to be told that rescue from yesterday had been cancelled. CANCELLED

Nobody had told them that until then.

New rescue arranged at 08:45 and promised response in 90 mins.

Do we hold our breath @TheRAC_UK ?

They begged call handler escalate as priority and make sure their number was passed to the breakdown team. They were given Customer Care number to call and complain only to get a recorded message that they don’t take phone calls.

THEY DON'T TAKE PHONE CALLS

You have left my parents in the middle of nowhere for 24 hours, left them to rely on the kindness of a stranger, and have been unhelpful and incompetent. All whilst taking their money for years.
