For the best part of the last decade, I have dedicated my free time to pounding the streets, door knocking and holding street stalls for Labour.

I'm not offended by Keir's comments that Labour deserved to lose because he hit the nail on the head. A thread.
The last election in particular, we had become a pius echo chamber. When people said they weren't voting for us, we wrote them off. We sought comfort in Twitter instead of dealing with the stark reality that we were losing this election.
I desperately wanted a corbyn led government. Over the last 5 years I had brazenly and whole heartedly supported him. That's why 12th December was a wake up call for me.
But too many activists, chose denial over reality. They sought to blame the general electorate instead. Called them stupid, racist, bigots
This sort of attitude is what led us to this catastrophic defeat
Of course Labour activists are the life blood of this party, Keir Starmer knows that. But we must stop blaming the general electorate for our defeat and cease being a pius echo chamber that is unwelcoming to anyone outside the Twitter echo chamber.
Truth is, not everyone who votes Labour has 100% puritanical Labour views. But we cannot get into government, turf out this awful right wing government, if we repeatedly tell the politically "impure" that they aren't good enough for us. We need to listen to our voters.
I'm not saying we need to become right wing to win over voters, but we need to present labour policies and values that the electorate will identify with and show them why Labour will benefit them, not criticise people for not already seeing it themselves. Keir understands this.
Keir is not saying that us long term activists deserved to lose the election, he's saying the electorate made their feelings known and we need to acknowledge that we were rejected. We must learn from this.
I'm not going to feign faux outrage over the comments. For anyone that has campaigned in more than one election, the 2019 one WAS different. If we want a Labour government, we need to listen to voters, not dictate to them how they should be feeling.
