Met Mr. Yinka in Abuja through my cab man.
I was eager to invest in properties, especially in Abuja.

Mr. Yinka was an Estate agent.
He has a shop in Kubwa part of Abuja.
He and his wife stays in the shop with their son (2yrs) after close of business. The mattress is hidden in a small cabinet till after closing.

On meeting him that fateful day. He showed me a plot of land for sale.
Price was N330k. But this same land was shown to me by people from my friend's church and they refused to accept N450k.

He asked me to come pay the next day but I must not inform my friend.

I was staying in my friend's apartment. We sleep on the same bed.
Meanwhile, I just met Mr. Yinka.
You too, think am nau.
I woke my friend up early in the morning n told him that his church members are not trustworthy.
Asked him not to breath a word of it to them.

In the evening after COB, I went back to Mr. Yinka to make payment.
The first question he asked me was; did you inform your friend? And I said; Yes.
He laughed and informed me that those guys came, collected the documents from him and paid the owner who desperately need

Money a part payment of N100k.
He assured me of getting another plot of land for me.
He did within a week. Same N330k.
A month after, he saw me and asked why I haven't commenced work on site.
I told him I am looking for funds to start. He asked me what I have in mind.

I told him want to build an upstairs of 4 flats. That I planned to stay in 1 and rent out the others.
He laughed.
He asked me what a young man like me want to do staying in my own house.
He advised me to build what people need. Self-contain apartment.
He showed his own.

And took me to another of his house where he just laid the foundation for 8nos 1bedroom self-contained apartments. And asked me if I have N10k which he spent on the foundation that day.
I gave him N15k cash on me. Cement was N300 then. Yes, you heard me right. N300

To cut the long story short, I started giving him N5k daily out of my out station allowance. Within a year, the house was completed.

Meanwhile, it was a month before I met Mr. Yinka that I attended a Prayer meeting in Lagos when I came to see my family.

The pastor asked everyone believing God to build their own house to buy just a block and donate to the church building.

Back to Abuja.
I was attacked by BH in 2004 when the house was completed.
I was in the hospital.
Mr. Yinka tidied up everything, rented the apartments and sent the money to me in Lagos.
I did not visit Abuja until 2006.
This was during the bank re-capitalization.

I was excited at the prospect of owning a part of these banks.
I told Mr. Yinka to invest.
He refused.
He told me he cannot invest in what he has no control over.
No problem.
I started buying IPO for Ocernic Bank, Zenith, GTB, UBA, etc.

Mr. Yinka was buying landed properties.
I left Abuja after losing that job some months after.

In 2011, I went for a wedding in Abuja and visited Mr. Yinka.
He was living in his own house of 5 3bedroom flat, he has 4 tenants.
He has those 30 of those 1bedroom apartments.

In 2015, he has an estate and so many other smaller houses.

On my part, the only asset are those 8nos apartments he manages for me.
All the bank shares are bad.
The only banks that have not failed are GTB and Zenith Banks.
The 2 of them paid a dividend of N5k each last week.

Mr. Yinka lives in another house in Gwarimpa now. A duplex.
