Perfectionism isn't striving for perfection, it is suffering even when you acheive good things.
It is exhausting, and can crush productivity, as you cannot achieve what your mind demands.

It isn't just the right answer in a job interview when asked what you see your flaws as.
Perfectionism causes suffering, and avoiding that that can lead to avoidance, obsession or going over something so much you destroy the magic in it.
Here is the thing.

Nothing great is ever perfect.

Magic isn't perfection, it is enchantment.

You need a product, not a project.

Flaws can be beautiful.

Your ideals and not your audiences.
Fear of rejection, of abandonment can be at the root of perfectionism.
You fear if something you cre about is rejected or criticized, you yourself are rejected.
I have been writing and releasing fanfic for ages that I do not put my name on. That allows me to be imperfect, to just create something nobody can reject me for.

I have several novel sized works out there floating in the ether. They are imperfect, and that is fine.
Perfectionism is when acceptable goals are warped by your mind.

Resisting your urge to perfect is exhausting, but can be an amazing release.
