STOP MAKING FANTASY SETTINGS CONSISTING OF CLEARLY DEFINED BORDERS BETWEEN ETHNOSTATES.
Even remotely accurately drawn and regulated borders are, like… something that didn't exist until the 18th fucking century at the earliest.
Which village belonged to which country wasn't a question of surveyors drawing lines on a map, it was a question of who showed up to collect taxes and/or protect you from bandits or whatever.

I honestly have someone in my mentions stubbornly arguing Elder Scrolls isn't an example, "because Forsworn", even though it's basically THE most straightforward, perfect example of this bullshit IMAGINABLE.
