Why every person should appreciate @Stray_Kids’ Double Knot, choreography-wise.

a detailed thread:
Disclaimer: i chose the dance practice over the performance video bc the latter wasnt on full cam. Still, OT8 forever!
1. INTRO
Not just simple arm relay effects, relay timing was precisely measured as the outward circling landed perfectly in the middle. & as to how exact the timing of the motion is when the three in the middle did the... wait for it bc i’ve just noticed this too right now... +
THREE WISE MONKEYS!? From the bottom:
Bang Chan: Speak no evil
Minho: See no evil
Jisung: Hear no evil
It’s too mindblowing for me that i even made a slowmo for this part.
If you don’t find this extremely brilliant then you are one of the most unappreciative persons i know! +
+ back to the clip, relay of each pair forming a circle, and as the circle moves down, the middlemen’s head also coordinated to face down. As the circle goes up again, notice at 0:11 how intense Minho’s head movement is!!! Whew this is too much details for just an 11-second intro
2. JISUNGS FIRST PART
Ah the first knot, imagine the force by pulling someone to the point that their hair also dance. The transitions of minho & chan, landing to a balanced formation. That intense Jisung elbow hit at 0:08 as the others made half-circle alternating pauses. +
+ The shoulder movement that made it look cool. The knee slides of Felix & Changbin, as Changbin then supported Jisung’s foot. They also did another knot effect with arms crossed. And how Jisung directed the others to face Minho as he’s the focus on the next one
3. FIRST FREE
This is a smooth part. How all the leaning they do match the lyrics, how they bounce during each “free”, and how they raise their hands each “get up”. Synchronized as hell.
4. DA DADADA (compilation)
This is just so unique for me, how the entire choreo and song is intense yet they’ve put this calming part in between. And let’s appreciate the art of hands in the last “da”
5. CHANGBIN CIRCLE
the satisfying circle. The lyricism in this one as this verse goes:
“Straighten up your posture and walk
'Cause in the end you're unstoppable”.
So they crawled, sat, looked up, and did ‘walk’. Damn the leg and core work they exerted in that single second
6. PRECHORUS
The fast paced leg and arm movements? Hello??? The change in formation before they do four strong arm movements exactly by each syllable??? And the iconic look-up pause building up the intense chorus!
7. CHORUS PART1 (comp)
As they crossed each arm, there are two leg movements equivalent emphasizing the knot effect in the upper body part. How intensely they throw their arms with yet another fast foot stomps. And how they breathe on each palm, being exact to each rave beat!!! +
+ The lock as their fists are in front, again matching the back beat. Lastly, minimal detail on toe raise again matching the beats. Yall this all about the mfcking beats.
8. CHORUS PART2 (comp)
That roaring beat where they strongly semi-stretched their arms, how powerful is that? Now this is the relay i love but we’ll get to this on the next one. And of course, STRAY KIDS!!!
8.1. SHARP RELAY
This relay yall!!!!!! Slowmoed this part to 0.5x speed yet still at fast pace right? This is so precised! The synchronization and coordination they have in this part!!! Every. Millisecond. Is. Highlighted. By. Them.
9. GO GO (comp)
How Seungmin controlled the formation by spreading his arms. & before his “go go” they even found the time to bounce even on dead mfckin air. How productive are they? Arm movements are just so satisfying to watch. Also who wouldn’t want to see their body waves
10. FELIX CIRCLE
The symmetry of the formation just before they form a circle around Felix is just too beautiful. Seems easy since they’re just holding arms in a circle, going up and down? N o p e. Observe the two fast locks they do as they go down, matching two fast beats.
11. CHANGBIN RAP
Chill until Changbin came to sing “yuh”. Bang Chan did minimal body throws as he covers his mouth while the others moved away. Then went to Chan, hand relays where each hand placement = 1 syllable in Changbin’s rap. Ending by all of them tapping Chan as rap ends
12. SECOND FREE
The first part’s light. Frontman minho moment here. Then as the man who can’t be named walks through, the others did a relay at the back. Then altogether kneeled as they do circling of arms highlighting the maknae
13. HYUNJIN INTENSE
Will focus on Hyunjin bc why not??? The intensity!! Like who hurt u why do u have to be so mad??? The power he exerted just by hitting a “woah” & that arm wave that led to yet another powerful arm lock!! & small cool detail at how their head nodded by the end
14. JISUNG RAP
How jisung’s every elbow hit directed the others, too energizing to watch! And how half of them rised first after a rap word then how the other half followed. And again the four strong arm movements for each syllable and how they looked up with full emotions.
15. PRE DANCE BREAK
Just a freestyle building to the dance break, til Jisung pointed to right left then down. It’s not as simple as look right left and down. The way they tilted their heads are extremely strong! And a very very very high jump as they go to the dance break.
I’ve cut the dance break into four parts bc one tweet aint enough i swear. Yall ready now?
16. BREAK1
Fast pace, very strong arm movements, leg work in each arm move. The effect of their kicks. As Jisung continued his kick, others sat down w/ force, hitting a strong single beat! And of course Stray Kids love knee slides as their transitions.
17. BREAK2
Can’t stress this enough but the arm and leg coordination in this dance break is just too productive. Let me put it this way: 1 arm movement = 1 head tilt = 1 leg/footwork = 1 beat. +
+ Now imagine how many beats are there in this clip, and compare it with the seconds of the clip. It looks slow when you watch it but all i can say is try it for yourself. Lastly, how they dramatically bent down for the next part
18. BREAK - WAVE AS ONE
Another highlight of the entire choreo. The coordination in this one yall. There are very minimal locks in each wave, matching with the not the beat but the end of it. The symmetrical “hey” and the powerful arm movement and foot stomp in each “kah”
19. BREAK - SEXC WAVE
It’s okay i understand, you can loop this clip. Take your time. Just continue reading when you’re ready..
+ you okay now? Okay. Now, yep another relay for this one. The stomps as they wave their body just adds power to the entire wave. Then after every wave comes a stiff 💪 idk what to call this lol. But yea, duality in this part is from wavy to stiff to wavy to stiff again.
20. ENDING
A majestic ending. Every “kah” had its own movement. The knot effect, pulling each other, telling us that it is indeed a double knot. A perfect scenery as they did an ending pose symbolizing knots. But wait we’re still not done. Let’s dig the details in this last 4secs
20.1. SLOWMOED ENDING
We’re into the last 4 seconds but Stray Kids still had enough room to fill in with details!!!
-Hyunjin, Felix, Chan held hands as they welcome Changbin in the center
-Jisung and W facing at the back as they disconnect to Seungmin and Jeongin, +
+ then going front for their pose
-Seungmin & Jeongin pulling themselves intensely
-Minho doing wrist twirls. Then did strong arm movement as if he’s breaking the chain, exactly as when the sound effect of a breaking chain played.
*Tbh this thread still lacks more details for me. Fck tweet count lol but every arm movement is just detailed in this one!!! And see how they filled up both the intro and ending with details? They’re very productive dancers who made sure the audience won’t have dead time. +
+ The entire choreo requires full arm strength, core for waves to be executed at full, and legs for the stomps. Basically, all!! And dont forget the head movements. They may be simple like before the chorus when they just looked up, but they did the motion upon looking up +
+ as if theyve been punched in an uppercut. So ya necks need to be well too. This needs full force all over the body, so u better practice being stiff in each arm, each leg, the core, and the neck. Make sure you’re hydrated when you try this. Your highest stamina is needed. +
+ Thank you for reading this thread! Hope you also check out the threads for other SKZ choreo that I made here. Hope by now, you appreciate Double Knot’s choreo since it’s really hard, energy-consuming, and very productive.
