Was in Union Square today, so I swung by the @HarryPotterNY location to see what’s going on. (A thread) #HarryPotter #HarryPotterStore
They’ve taken off the plywood that was there when I last passed through a few months ago, so you can see the the “Summer 2020” promise in all it’s glory.
The work permits. From what I can read of them (the pictures initially looked better after I took them, sorry they look a little fuzzy), work began on some level in fall 2019, and the store will occupy three floors.
The company that’s working on the store, Shawmut Design and Construction. I know about nothing of the design and construction world, so I couldn’t tell you if this is a good thing or not.
The only interior glimpses I could really get of the ground floor. It... doesn’t look like much has changed since I last saw it.
Again, I don’t know much about construction stuff, maybe they’re going from the top down, I don’t know.

Shots of the whole building. My eyesight isn’t that good, nor am I that tall, so I couldn’t tell you about anything about the work on the other floors other than it appears to be happening.
And so this thread may actually get to #HarryPotter fans looking for information on the New York #HarryPotterStore, I’m tagging @pottercollector so that he can spread the word if he’d like (homeboy was nice enough to reply to me before about the store, plus his videos are dope).
