I don't like to do threads, but this is too important to ignore. Ontario is looking to not only put standardized testing online, but outsource it to a private company. This is ALL KINDS OF WRONG. If your alarm bells aren't ringing right now, they should.

First, let's look at the head of EQAO for a second. Dr. Montgomery got the position after he ran in the election as a Conservative MPP and lost. He was then not only appointed to this position by Ford, but given a MASSIVE 1800% raise.

Without knowing anything about Dr. Montgomery, we can right away assume that when a sitting government ups the pay for a position by over $130,000 and then hands it to you, you're not exactly going to be unbiased. Add to that the fact that this person RAN AS A CONSERVATIVE.

EQAO has been used by all parties in power to push their agenda in education. Making themselves look better in some cases, making past governments look bad in others. This isn't just a Conservative problem. The Liberals are just as guilty of manipulating this test.

Now you would assume, like I did, that a standardized test would hold up to its name and be consistent in the abilities it measures. But you would be wrong. Tests are changed regularly, questions are dropped, or added back in to change the weighting of the test.

Now consider for a second that this test is already flawed. If you take this test online and give the government full control to manipulate the test in real-time, does anyone for a second believe that this will make the test more impartial? How?

As it stands, the results from EQAO are nothing more than a political tool used to further the teacher bashing agenda. It needs to go. At minimum any results from it need to be actively dismissed by parents across this province.
