KuroHina Angst thread

“You’re going to Brazil?”

“Yes.”

“Brazil like the country over 1000 miles away from here?”

“That’s the only Brazil there is Tetsu.”

Kuroo looks at his orange headed boyfriend like he grew another head.
“And Kenma is sponsoring you?”

“Yep,” Kuroo’s eye twitches at the fact that his boyfriend of almost three years is acting so nonchalant about moving across the world from him.

“When are you leaving?” Kuroo asks
“After graduation.”

3 months. Shouyou was leaving in 3 months.

His chest feels heavy, he doesn’t want to fight. This was one of the rare moments they had where Shouyou came to Tokyo for the weekend. He didn’t want to ruin it.
But he really believes he has the right to know about this.

It probably slipped Shouyou’s mind to tell him. He probably decided this recently. He has to ask.

“When did you decide this?”

Shouyou looks away and quietly says, “since the beginning of second year.”
What the fuck.

He’d known for two years he was gonna leave. He let Kuroo love him more and more every day for two years and he was going to leave.

Kuroo didn’t want to fight. It was Friday night, Shouyou was there for two more days before he went back home.
But dammit, Kuroo needed to have this fight. Right now.

“Two fucking years,” Kuroo’s voice is steady, angry and rising, “you knew for two fucking years that you wanted to move to the other side of the world and didn’t tell me?”
Kuroo gets up from the couch where he had been laying with Shouyou. The tangerine stares at him but says nothing. He knows Kuroo needs to get this off his chest.
“I have loved you for two years, I have been there for two years. Unconditionally, because I knew at the end of your high school career you would probably come here and get into a university on a scholarship and play volleyball, here in Tokyo.”
Kuroo wasn’t being crazy. They had talked about it before. Thinking back on it, Shouyou had never said anything, just nodded and smiled.

“Are you going to say something or just stare at your hands?!”
“What do you want me to say Kuroo?” Shouyou yells right back, “you wanted a future with me, don’t you think I wanted a future with you too? But you want a life with me here and I can’t be tied down to a school or to classes, I want to learn by doing!”
Kuroo looks at his boyfriend, they both have tears in their eyes.
Kuroo knows he should stop. He should apologize and they can go to bed and discuss it later that weekend.

He knows he should stop.

But he doesn’t.
“You CAN’T, or you WON’T? You are smart enough to get into my university. You have the athletic abilities. You can go anywhere in Japan. But you choose to go across the freaking world to play in the beach. Something you’ve never done before.”
“Who cares about the semantics, Kuroo? I want to learn to fly on my own! I can’t do that here, not yet. Can you understand that?” Shouyou grabs his hand, holding it tightly. Kuroo wants so badly to kiss his hand and wipe the tears from his eyes away.

But he has another question
“Shouyou. What does this mean for us?” He asks quietly.

“We’ve done long distance all of our relationship, what’s a couple more years?” The orange head puts his arms around Kuroo’s shoulders, looking him in the eyes.
No. No. Kuroo wasn’t going to this anymore. He wasn’t going to let volleyball take Shouyou away from him.

“No. I won’t do it, Shouyou.”

Shouyou pulls back, stunned. His hands retreat to his pockets but he says nothing.
“If you go to Brazil, it’s over. We’re over.”

Shouyou stares at him. He seems to be fiddling with something in his pocket.

“Do you hear me Shouyou? We’re done. If you go to Brazil, we’re done.”
Shouyou takes a deep breath and looks up at Kuroo, “I came here this weekend because I wanted to see you. To tell you that I love you. And that my future includes yoh no matter where I am.”

Shouyou sets a small box on the coffee table, opening it. Kuroo sees a ring there.
It’s a simple silver band. Nothing very special.
But it makes Kuroo’s heart clench.

“I wanted to give you this as promise. That no matter where I am, I wanted my future to be with you. I wanted you to always remember that.” Shouyou says, grabbing his jacket, nearing the door.
Kuroo is still staring at the box on the table. Shouyou is putting on his shoes and opening the door.

“I’m sorry my decisions have made it so that we can’t be together. Goodbye, Tetsurou. I really do love you.”
