The black church is not w/o faults, but there’s something abt being in a faith based space where you can worship alongside others & not have to wonder if your life matters to them. There’s something abt worshiping in a space where the legitimacy of your humanity is firmly planted
Black Christians w/racial trauma who belong to predominately white churches will likely have their healing impeded. To begin healing, a “safe space” must be present. Given some responses I’ve received abt this thread; I did state above that the black church is not w/o its faults, and I was very specific about the dynamic I was affirming of the black church; that it believes Black Lives Matter. Tweets weren’t a comprehensive assessment of BC.
