Adults like doing things to kids that they wouldn't like done to them. If u did something that your spouse doesn't like & he shaved your head how would u feel? If u messed up at work & your boss slapped you how would u feel? Children have emotions just like you. Let's do better.
"I turned out fine"

They forced me to eat but I turned out fine..what's your relationship with food today?

They beat me & I turned out fine- are you able to express self? What's your confidence & relationship with failure looking like? Can u express emotions in a healthy way?
My parents were hard on me but I turned out fine- How is your internal Dialogue when u don't perform well?
Are you able to celebrate yourself?

I turned out fine should be holistic not just meeting financial needs & staying out of jail. Most adults are in therapy cause of this
And people respond differently to experiences, just cause you could handle treatment does not mean that your children will be able to do the same.

So remember children have Emotions too. It's okay to question how your parents did things. It's okay to unlearn.
"It's my child I can do what I want with them"

Abusive men use the same statement when referring to their partners.

Children are human beings, with emotions. How you treat them conditions them for what they tolerate later.
Most people aren't able to connect the dots until they are older, I work in the healing space and honestly these things are heart breaking. We can do better for this generation. Our parents didn't have as many resources to do better but we do.
If you are looking to heal from these type of experiences I wrote a book on it.

It's available on Amazon and on the link on my bio.🙏🕯️ https://twitter.com/Yvette_Aloe/status/1289974615687589888?s=19
