There’s a vast difference between justice and revenge. Too many Americans don’t understand there’s a difference between the two and that’s why this country is where it’s at today.
George Floyd is getting justice. The system is working exactly as it’s supposed to. It’s ignoring the officer’s race and profession and focusing on their actions. That’s how it’s supposed to work.
Breonna Taylor is getting justice. The system is working as it should. A Grand Jury looked at the evidence and indicted someone they believe may have broken the law. That’s how it’s supposed to work.
James Scurlock WAS getting justice. A Grand Jury looked at the evidence and indicted someone they believe may have broken the law. But because people don’t know the difference between justice and revenge, that wasn’t good enough.
So in order to exact their own “justice” (I.e. revenge) they made up story after story and pushed Jake Gardner to the point of suicide. Now that same crowd is angry that “justice” will never be done.
You can’t have both. You can either have a vengeful system that ignores facts, laws, case law, etc. and focuses solely on retribution. Or you can have a fair and balanced system that uses laws, facts and case law to render a just verdict.
I prefer facts & laws over mob rule. Mobs don’t care about the truth. They care about getting their way regardless of right or wrong.
