I miss my small liberal arts school. @Transy didn't make me feel like a number in the way that my law school sometimes makes me feel. I miss the emails checking in if I missed a class or didn't speak up one day. I also miss the community. It wasn't a competition, it was a family.
I remember a time that Dr. Nichols came up to me after class, asked how I was and if there was anything I needed to talk about. I actually did. He stopped everything he was doing. It didn't matter that there was a room full of students waiting on him. I cried and he listened.
At the end of my senior year, @MCairo910 took his seminar students to dinner. I had enrolled in a grad program in D.C. and instead enrolled in a program in Kentucky. He knew I was stressed by that. He told me, "you are brilliant. You will succeed wherever you decide to be."
Dr. Maupin never hesitated to say hello or to provide the positivity that I needed to get through the week. Her genuine desire to make the world a better place still inspires me today.
The family at @Transy doesn't end with the professors. @MichaelJCronk read more than a few of my cover letters. He still cheers me on today. I know if I ever needed career help that he'd be there to lead the charge.
