Everyone has a designated role during funerals. I was always in the kitchen. We’re the team that doesn’t sleep 3 days in a row, never makes it to service/burial cos we’re busy making sure everyone is fed and has 3 extra plates to take home. That’s why we drink through it all

Also, if the team catches you sleeping, be prepared to cop an eternity of hell. I made the mistake of sleeping in the storeroom during my aunty’s funeral and boy did I regret it. Do what you gotta do to keep ya eyeballs open even if it means downing a bottle of rum. No mercy
