Just listening back to @CorksRedFM there. A radio licence is a privilege to have. I wonder how the @IrishTimes feels about the recent show, as a minority shareholder in the station. Because what happened yesterday was outrageous.
I& #39;m embarrassed for everyone who works at the station. Negligent, dangerous, unprofessional nonsense.
In circumstances like this you have to wonder if they deserve a radio licence at all. What on earth was the rationale? What did they think they were doing?
The host concludes the interview basically admitting that he doesn& #39;t know what he& #39;s doing, or how to question the false claims being made because he& #39;s "not in a position to refute anything". Maybe he should have thought that before inviting a conspiracy theorist onto his show?
Did him and the team producing the show notice how a video that featured said conspiracy theorist was removed from social platforms for making identical false claims to the ones made on radio - unchallenged? Does the station have any standards at all or what?
He starts out the show

"We& #39;ve been asked to get as many experts as we can on the [COVID] topic in the interests of balance.. we had a lot of conspiracy theories yesterday.."

What balance?

First question: "You declare Coronavirus is nothing more than seasonal flu?"
What. The. Hell.
Also, a lady - Pauline - rang in later in the show saying she was scared out of her wits as a result of the interview.

"I& #39;m just frightened now."

Host: "Coronavirus is flu". NO it& #39;s not.

Then he again admits he doesn& #39;t know what he& #39;s talking about. https://twitter.com/SeanMcCarthy997/status/1308844252823248896">https://twitter.com/SeanMcCar...
How many other vulnerable listeners were scared out of their wits by all the false claims - or were misled into believing masks are not needed, or that deaths from COVID are not really happening?
He laughs it off at the end of the clip.

You& #39;re making vulnerable people *more* vulnerable.
If you have relatives in Cork and they casually tell you they "heard on the radio" that hundreds of thousands of people aren& #39;t really dying during this pandemic, or that zinc will fix it if you get COVID-19, now you know who you can blame.
(And before you start blaming the host whose name is on the show title - this was presented by a stand-in host. And it takes a team to produce a show).
