This portion of this episode made me realize two things in a way previously made unconceived in my head. First, about how we really never come into contact with the world, and how all we know is our interoception

Interoception is our sense of what goes on in our body and since all we feel is bodily signals, it can be argued that most of what we label as bad or good are just projections from the sense of our interoception that point.
Basically uncomfortable bodily signals lead to us projecting bad on the world at that point, no matter what’s going on and likewise for pleasant bodily signals. It’s why the euphoria of getting high allows us escape our emotions.
The second, somewhat related, is how, if we get our emotional template of the world from our mothers even in the womb, can we really say that there’s any part of us that’s inherently original?

I mean, I get that the manifestation of this emotional template will be unique
But is there anything of our constitution that anyone can say first originated with them? I think this is something we should all think about for a while,
I can’t say why, but I think meditating on the fact that what you think is your unique self, is really a derivation of your mother’s emotional state, which is itself derived from her environment,
and that this very self; what you are at your core; the tabula rasa mind you’re supposedly born with is actually a compressed snapshot of a worldview made flesh. I think meditating on these things will do something to your sense of self.
It may make you have a more fluid relationship with it. I can’t say, but I think that will happen, and you’ll be more willing to play with your idea of yourself. It won’t always be pleasant but you’ll be opening yourself up to a whole new world of intrigue.
The podcast episode goes on to talk about how sound and the breath can help us connect with our interoception in a constructive way and how depression is a negative relationship to this sensation of what’s going on inside your body.
