1. I think that clip of Judge Barrett from 2016 is being way over-hyped. I don't hear her to be making an argument that confirmation in an election hear is appropriate or inappropriate as a normative matter.
2. To me, the more interesting thing in the Judge Barrett clip is that she is comfortable talking about shifts in the balance of power of the Court between conservatives & liberals. That makes it more difficult for her to hide behind the Roberts framing of balls and strikes.
3. For example, based on the clip, I would love to see a questioner ask Judge Barrett to describe how she thinks her method of judging is different from her understanding of RBG's method. Or how her method is different from Scalia's or Kennedy's.
