Exploding Head Scenes

This may seem sadistic to all the normies out there but to us horror fans nothing beats a good exploding head scene.

This was kinda hard to rank because the top five were all so good. Let me know if I've missed any.

#10 Child's Play 2 (Chucky)

I wasn't sure if this exploding head counted because it happens to a doll but it's great and I make the rules so here it sits at #10

Just before his head pops he kinda looks like a Garbage Pale Kid.

It always makes me laugh.

#9 Halloween 6 (John Strode)

Well this is probably one of the only good things I can say about Halloween 6: The Cure of Michael Myers.

Originally it wasn't meant to explode but the producers said they needed to up the gore.

John Strode was a major dick so it was satisfying.

#8 Seven Psychopaths (Charlie)

I haven't seen this movie but I've seen this head pop several times in clips.

It's a nice kill. First Woody Haralson gets an arrow shot through his neck and then blam! Head matter goes a flying.

#7 Planet Terror (Abby)

Here's another nice head pop in the Grindhouse film Planet Terror.

I thought this movie was so so but this was a nice kill.

#6 The Prowler (George Fraser)

Now this is how you take out the killer in a slasher.

This one was done by horror legend Tom Savini so of course it glorious.

Expect to see more from Savini on this list.

#5 Dawn of the Dead (projects man)

Here's one from my favorite zombie film and the second head explosion done by Tom Savini.

This kill set the tone for what was to come.

Wanna have a laugh? Check out what the dummy looks like before he is shot. It's so bad.

#4 Chopping Mall (Leslie)

This one takes me back to when I was a wee lad.

This time the kill is delivered by security robots run amock.

I do find it funny that it zaps her a couple time in the back and butt and nothing really happens.

I guess you gotta hit that sweet spot.

#3 Deadly Friend (Elvira)

This is one that I saw countless times on HBO when I was a kid.

This head pop comes via a basketball which is rather original.

But it doesn't stop there. After said head explosion the body stumbles around for a bit, bumping into walls. Fantastic!

#2 Maniac (Disco boy)

Here's another fantastic headshot this time done by special effects master Tom Savini.

Tom was so lucky to get to make his own head explode.

It's been stated that they used leftovers from lunch to fill the head. Pretty cool.

#1 Scanners (first scanner)

And sitting at number one is the most famous head exploding scene ever filmed.

I'm not a huge fan of this film but the gore effects are outstanding and stand the test of time.

Just seeing this image makes me want to re-watch this.
