Shark Awareness, a thread.
Sharks. We all know they exist, but does anyone really pay attention to them? Think about it, when’s the last time you ever thought about a shark. Last week? Two months ago? Never? Don’t worry if you haven’t, that’s what this thread is for, to spread awareness on the raging war+
going on in our ocean. One Hundred MILLION sharks are killed; not five years, not three years, in one. One single year. It’s a huge problem. About 11,416 sharks are killed across the globe every sixty minutes, I don’t even want to know how many are killed every minute. +
They’re all killed, mostly for the demand of shark fin soup. They release the shark after cutting off their fins, but without their main steering tool they sink to the bottom of the ocean and die from suffocation, a predator. Yes, sharks feel pain+
because of their cartilaginous skeleton. It feels wrong killing such a sweet creature for the sake of your shark fin soup. (I’m sorry if this is kind of all over the place.) Most people think sharks are cold-blooded killers that only want others to feel pain, but+
In reality they’re sweet creatures who just want to live their life under the sea. I just cringe when somebody says they’re afraid of sharks. Only about 10 humans are killed from shark attacks a year. The difference between human killings and shark killings is absurd. Way too+
many sharks lose their lives just because of us. This whole thread has been kind of a rant, and I know I can’t do much because I’m just a middle schooler who wants people to know about this issue, but please do the best you can. Retweet, share this with your friends, I want more+
people to be aware of this issue. Thank you for reading my long, pointless rant. Take care, Amy.
