David jehoahaz abraham | The paradoxical freedom of the true king

David is a super underrated Character and I wanted to shed some light on him
Destiny and the worth of life are 2 of magi's main themes that is shown throughout various characters of the series, it specifically puts focus on the chosen few knows as "singularities"

A singularity is a person that can see destiny, which is the way life is planned
While everyone is special in there own ways nobody's life is worth more than another, this is one of the many things David opposes

As the only person in the entire universe connected with "god" he believed his life was worth more than all else in this world
He doesn't understand the concept of family, friendship or equal human connection.

Because he is the only true existence.

He views solomon not as his child but another version of himself as they share the same blood
"God" in Magi has no existing will, it's said be just a clump of power, which means people can use this phenomena knows as god to impose, which is exactly what David did

When magicians would impose their will on others to be used as sacrifices for god-
These sacrifices would be for David as he would become god as destiny foretold.

becoming one with god would mean he would become/control destiny itself which is one thing David spited.

Destiny was the one who imposed this duty on him, it was "god" who had chosen him
He never had the freedom to chose what he desired as everything he did was in the name of destiny.

He had no self worth other than his given title of "singularity".

He has no sense of self without destiny.
Aladdin while given a fate by destiny as well has more than just his title of "Magi"
Sinbad while given the fate of "singularity" he has everything and a sense of self that can't be contained.

Even judar has meaning to his life, David is the only one without meaning.
David is stuck in this paradox of wanting to be free from destiny to find his own meaning but he can't let go of it because he doesn't know how to find "meaning" without it

Governing over everything and everyone like God as destiny said is the only way he knows how to find it
he's at this constant contradiction of wanting freedom but he doesn't know anything without the only thing shackling him down
Destiny is portrayed as this unstoppable phenomena that makes people who understand it lose hope.

When in fact destiny is the will and dreams other have for you and that you have for yourself that's drives you to find that "meaning".
I can understand why people would think David is boring because he's all "destiny this and destiny that" but I think his character is almost as poetic as Sinbad's
He is a soul that clings to his only proof of existence and he recognizes that fault but he can't let go of it because without it he doesn't have anything else prove to himself that "David jehoahaz abraham" truly existed.
To impose his will on others in the name of destiny and guidance and to rule over all in this plane of existence to continue the uncomprehendable, unjustifiable and cruel concept of known as destiny.

That is David.
Thanks for reading my interpretation of David's character.
Hopefully all the talk about Destiny didn't get repetitive.
