personally i really love the word #queer, always have. it’s the only term that’s felt consistently true & welcoming for me through all my stages of self-recognition
when i was dating women who viewed me with a hint of disdain, like i was some sort of brutus. when i was dating men who saw my interest in women as cute, like a sort of hobby you don’t quit your day job for
when my attraction to a greater spectrum of gender diversity defied both hetero- & homosexual paradigms i’d previously bought into, ‘queer’ still never did NOT feel right
i’ve been wanting to rebrand ‘bisexual’ to myself, but the truth is it has never worked for me, and that’s okay. identity language is tricky & nothing is one-size-fits-all
regardless of all that, it feels necessary to mark #bivisibilityday because representation matters, even when conflicted about labels? maybe especially? visibility in the name of both amplifying *and* complicating the conversation
so um yeah. happy bisexual day, bisexuals. bisexually yours: a queer
