EDM is a compilation of electronic subgenres created for large crowds. Electronic Dance Music (EDM) is an umbrella term for Electro, Dance Pop, House, Tecno, Dub Step, Drum and Bass, Trap, Trance, Dub and many more.
EDM might seem new to some, but it has been around since the 1970s, developing and evolving over the years.
In recent times, EDM has been gaining popularity and it has become a mainstream sound particularly in America and parts of Europe thanks to the huge success of Avicii,
Alan Walker, Kshmr, Kygo, Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Martin Garrix. EDM is gaining a bit of popularity in Nigeria, although it's being infused with other genres, notably Sarz' joint project with Wurld; I Love Girls With Trobul, which had a lot of Electro influence.
While it might be relatively unknown, it is gradually gaining ground in Nigeria and it's something to embrace and cherish just like other mainstream sounds in Nigeria. EDM is not just a noise or mixing of different instruments to produce a sound
it's an intentional type of music made to be enjoyed, it is made to be felt within the soul.
